Project Superintendent (Underground Utilities)

Summary

 

Steep Creek LLC is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent for our Construction Division. This position is for a key player who can be on-site to direct day-to-day field operations for underground utilities projects such as water, sewer, and storm drainage installation. The successful candidate will always be prepared, organized, responsive, willing to take on challenges directly, and seek assistance when needed. The Underground Utilities Superintendent will report directly to the Construction Division Leader.

 

Salary: 70,000.00+, depending on experience

 

Schedule: Monday – Friday, typically 3-4 days of travel per week

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Oversee and participate in the operation of equipment including heavy and light equipment, trucks and other equipment and tools;

  • Accurately distribute work among team members and subcontractors to stay on track or ahead of schedule;

  • Maintain inventory and control over the project tools, materials, equipment, and security; promptly returning rentals upon completion of the task

  • Responsible for quality control on the project and ensure delivered and installed components are in accordance with approved submittals;

  • Maintain daily log of activities on the jobsite;

  • Assure accurate site layout, along with required testing and inspection logs;

  • Provide weekly project status update and look ahead schedules;

  • Effectively coordinate with subcontractors for procurement, commencement, and completion of work;

  • Consistently maintain a safe, clean, organized, and secure work site while exhibiting a positive attitude toward safety;

  • Process field team member timesheets and coordinate any time off requests;

  • Serve as a mentor for team members, review performance, make recommendations for improvements and wage adjustments;

  • Willingness to perform additional assignments as required to ensure project success;

  • Be available to work overtime, including an occasional weekend;

  • Be available to travel

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

 

  • Thorough understanding of construction operations, processes, and schedules;

  • Ability to identify deficient work and provide resolutions promptly;

  • Collaborative team player who is also a dependable leader;

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for managing field operations, client interactions, and directing subcontractors;

  • Knowledgeable of safety and health guidelines for construction job sites

Experience/Education

 

  • 5+ years experience as a Project Superintendent over underground utilities projects…

  • …OR…10+ years experience on utility construction projects with leadership responsibilities;

  • Have experience managing underground utility projects of $500,000 or more;

  • Supervisory experience is required for this position.
